Designing AI-Powered Experiences

Beyond the Copilot Abstract

Patricia Reiners

About this masterclass

AI features are everywhere: From copilots to autonomous agents.

But how do we design meaningful AI-powered experiences instead of simply adding a chat interface? In this workshop, UX designers will explore emerging AI interaction models and design patterns from advisor and generator systems to human-in-the-loop concepts. We’ll address designing for uncertainty, building trust, defining guardrails, and rethinking information architecture in probabilistic systems.

The goal: move beyond hype and start designing AI systems intentionally, strategically, and responsibly.

Key Learnings:

  • Differentiate between AI interaction models (advisor, generator, agent, orchestrator)
  • Choose the right AI pattern for a specific product context
  • Design for uncertainty and probabilistic outputs
  • Build trust through transparency and explainability patterns
  • Define guardrails, boundaries, and responsible AI behaviors
  • Structure effective human-in-the-loop flows
  • Rethink information architecture for AI-driven systems
  • Translate system prompts and AI logic into clear UX decisions
